Professor Sommerfeld: GRIAT Students Are Prepared to Study in Germany

02.07.2021

Today the course of lectures by Professor Martin Sommerfeld for the students of the German-Russian Institute of Advanced Technologies ended.

For two weeks, the professor from the Otto von Guericke University (Magdeburg) gave lectures to the 1st year master’s students of GRIAT on Mechanical Process Engineering within the Chemical and Energy Engineering program. “In 2 weeks it is difficult to learn a course that has to take an entire semester. The program is very interesting, combining engineering and chemistry”, said the teacher.

As the professor noted, he taught a course in the framework of the preparation of masters in the double degree program. From September 1st year students of GRIAT will have a six-month study in Germany. At the Otto von Guericke University, students will study 4 subjects in six months, in which they will pass exams and then write their master's thesis in English.

According to Dr. Sommerfeld, the master’s students are well prepared to study in Germany. “Some were very active,” he said.

The professor believes that more students can be recruited to the GRIAT program – It is so unique and effective.

Dr. Sommerfeld is a distinguished scientist in the fields of multiphase flow research, particle technology and numerical (mathematical) modeling. Dr. Sommerfeld has 199 publications in international scientific journals. His articles have been cited over 15,000 times, with a Hirsch index of 51.
