The World Youth Festival brought together 20 thousand young leaders from Russia and abroad

KNRTU-KAI is represented by its students, staff members, and volunteers in Sochi, Russia. In total, 225 people from the Republic of Tatarstan will take part in the World Youth Festival.

KAI Student Media Center interviewed the participants of the forum, and asked them how they got into the upscale event and what were their expectations.

Ms. Elena Bazhenova: “We have a very cool young generation”!

Profile: 1st year master's degree student of the Institute of Radioelectronics, Photonics and Digital Technologies.

Strengths: experience in research activities, participation in conferences, writing scientific articles.

Hobby: working out, reading, learning English.

- The World Youth Festival was my first experience of participating in such huge events. I found out about it online back in the fall and immediately got excited about the idea of taking part in the forum. It took no effort at all for me to submit an application, because I had already had material that met the selection criteria.

Due to the large number of candidates from Tatarstan, the event organizing committee decided to conduct competition in form of interview, which obviously was a big surprise for us.

Luckily, the quantity did not detract from the quality: en route to Sochi, I met other delegates from Tatarstan, and it did not go unnoticed how passionate and versatile the youth in our region were. Therefore, the idea that the festival provided participants the opportunity to meet such positive, broad-minded, ambitious young people from different parts of Russia and abroad in order to exchange ideas seemed incredibly inspiring!

Mr. Adel Akhmetov: “I want to meet Mr. Valery Falkov in person”!

Profile: engineer at the Educational Process Organization Department, computer science teacher at the Technical College.

Strengths: multi-talented, equipped with broad-based knowledge.

Hobby: carting, writing scientific articles.

- The selection of candidates took place in several stages: writing an essay, submission of video presentation, passing an interview, and after that was the waiting for a miracle – a letter of acceptance from the festival organizers. No doubts, only the best of the best were invited to take part in the World Youth Festival.

I have many expectations from this event. In particular, I want to meet Mr. Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Timur Sabirzyanov: “I want to learn more about youth policy in the regions of Russia and abroad”!

Profile: 3rd year student of the Institute of Engineering Economics and Entrepreneurship.

Strengths: skills of carrying out social and political activities within the university, Tatarstan and Russia overall.

Hobby:  see "Strengths".

- As for me, I am actively involved in work with young people through various educational activities. I am currently a member of the Youth Parliament of Kazan, chairman of the commission on issues in the field of education and science. Moreover, I have recently became the assistant to the head of the Anti-Terrorist Commission of the Republic of Tatarstan.

At the festival, first of all, I would like to know in what way the youth policy is developing in other regions of Russia and, of course, in other countries. In my opinion, this event is a great platform for the younger generation to share experiences and knowledge.

Mr. Ramil Sadykov: “It was all worth it to go through a rigorous selection of 22 people per place”!

Profile: graduate with an honors bachelor's degree of the Department of Thermal Engineering and Power Engineering, 1st year master's degree student at the Institute of Engineering Economics and Entrepreneurship.

Strengths: passion for learning and studying, sports, experience in volunteer activities, skills in the socio-political sphere.

Hobby: life by itself, my life motto is “Get pleasure from each day!”

- The selection for the festival was indeed difficult: 4,724 applications were submitted from Tatarstan. That was a competition of 22 people per place.

At the World Youth Festival I am going to represent the “Youth Organizations, Political Parties, Associations and Communities, Young Parliamentarians” section. Currently, I am a member of the Youth Parliament under the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, an assistant to the Chairman of the Expert Council of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Tatarstan, and a curator at the Sirius educational center.

My expectations correlate with what I actually do. I believe that this forum provides a great opportunity for all participants, not only from Russia but also from other countries, to exchange experiences, and vies on matters related to youth policy, which hopefully some of them I will be able to adopt for the benefit of Tatarstan, as well as establish international cooperation, work on the implementation of new ideas and projects.

FYI: The World Youth Festival is being held in accordance with the decree of President Vladimir Putin in order to develop international youth cooperation. This event united 20 thousand young activists in the fields of education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering and charity, sports, business, and media.
