The results of the “National Writing Project Summer Institute” course, conducted by the professor at Montana State University Kirk Branch.

From May 13 to 31, the “National Writing Project Summer Institute” course was held on  German-Russian Institute of Advanced Technologies. The purpose of such intensity is to help teachers to replenish their knowledge and gain new experience in teaching in English and to improve writing skills for research purposes. The supervisor was professor at Montana State University Kirk Branch.

For three weeks, participants discussed various topics, listened to lectures, and improved their writing and speaking skills.

The course feature was that the participants presented their own lectures, while the rest of the students were obliged to give a positive or negative feedback. According to the participants, this practice helps to make work on the mistakes and improve their teaching skills.

The director of GRINT Alsou Gilmetdinova thanked professor Branch and his wife for their response: “At the very beginning Professor Branch said:“ We will not only learn writing skills, we will learn about each other. ” And it is so important to us as teachers and authors of articles - to help each other. We became a family. And it was professor Branch who made this family. ”

The students of the course and GRIAT  teachers thanked professor Branch and presented national souvenirs. All participants received certificates of attendance.

Course participants shared their impressions.

Director of Institute for Aviation, Land Transportation and Power Engineering Aizada Magsumova: “I felt the close relationship of writing-listening-speaking during the course. Lessons were also useful from the point of view of teaching: we theoretically knew many things, but in practice we overlook them. On the courses we understood that all this should be applied. It was understood that the lectures should be approached with special creativity, giving a large role to the student and his active participation in the educational process. In this case, the result of understanding the material being studied will exceed our expectations.”

Associate Professor of the Department of Radioelectronics and data measuring system Evgeny Denisov: “Professor Branch has created a very comfortable area, when there is no pressure and fear of being wrong. And even we would make some mistakes, they will be corrected in a very pleasant and intelligent manner. The training allowed us to talk with each other, discuss important topics, take a fresh look at the texts in English. We analyzed the structure of articles and proposals in detail. There is a tendency from simple to complex in teaching. First, we described simple everyday actions, then we came to a more complex one: writing articles, how to present data, how to introduce the reader into the text. Important thought: any article should be a story. I strongly advise my colleagues, teachers of KAI to undergo this course if it happens again. The course is very interesting and useful, it develops skills of writing, communication, and even slightly changes the picture of the world.”
