Working visit of the President of the company "Siemens" to KNRTU-KAI

A delegation of heads of the German concern visited the university's laboratories, including the Siemens Engineering Center.

 

On Tuesday, May 23, KNRTU-KAI was visited by the top managers of the German company Siemens headed by Chairman of the concern Siemens AG Mr. Joe Kaeser. The delegation also included head of corporate research and technology, Vice-President of OOO Siemens Mr. Martin Gitsels, President of Siemens in Russia Mr. Dietrich Moeller, head of corporate communications Department, OOO Siemens Mr. Alexey Vorobyov and Director of the office of OOO Siemens in the Volga Federal district Mr. Shamil Faizrakhmanov.

Guests arrived at the University in the framework of the working visit to Kazan. On the same day, Mr. Kaeser and the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov discussed the prospects of joint projects.

A welcome speech was given by the rector of KNRTU-KAI Albert Gilmutdinov. He told the guests about the history of the University, about current areas of training undergraduate and graduate students, about future projects, winning grants, and collaboration of KAI with partners in the industry.

 

 

The rector of KNRTU-KAI noted that the basic idea of the German-Russian Institute is the training for high educational standards in Germany. According to him, it is important for global companies such as Siemens to have highly qualified local staff.

Mr. Kaeser praised the efforts of the KNRTU-KAI in this area. "Changes in technology cause changes in society. It is important to bring technology into the values of society," he stressed.

 

 

After the meeting, Albert Kharisovich showed  the laboratories of KNRTU-KAI to the guests. In the Laser-technology Lab the rector demonstrated to the representatives of the German concern the optical diagnostics sector, the workshop of laser physics and the workshop of mechatronics & robotics equipment and told about its capabilities in detail. Tour of Engineering center of Siemens for the guests was made by the Director of the center Vladimir Mokshin. The rector of KNRTU-KAI thanked Mr. Martin Gitsels and Mr. Dietrich Moeller for an active assistance in securing the centre.

At the end of the official part of the meeting, the rector of KNRTU-KAI presented the head of Siemens his book, "Leadership Lessons" in which one of the invited experts was the President Siemens in Russia Mr. Dietrich Moeller, and a commemorative coin with the image of the Kazan Kremlin and KNRTU-KAI.

 

 

The German concern Siemens AG is one of the world leaders in the field of electrical engineering, electronics, energy equipment, transport, medical equipment and lighting equipment, and specialized services in various fields of industry, transport and communications. The group supports the activities of the German-Russian Institute of new technologies and grants scholarships and grants to the best students. Cooperation between Siemens and KAI is conducted within the framework of the strategic agreement signed in 2015 in Kazan.

According to the Director of Engineering center of Siemens in KNRTU-KAI Vladimir Mokshin, one of the most important advantages of cooperation with the German concern is that students will be able to become acquainted with modern technologies and developments, have the opportunity to pass practice in the companies-partners of Siemens, reinforcing in practice the skills learned during the training process. "In addition, as a result of training formed professionals, able to freely navigate in modern technology, which does not need to retrain," he said.

 

Plans for further development of relations with Siemens include the strengthening of cooperation, the opening of new laboratories, the implementation of joint projects, the establishment of a certified center of competence, Siemens, the increased use of the company's equipment in the educational process and in conducting research and development activities.
